For the Superbowl we investigated breweries in Atlanta and Boston for the teams facing off in the Big Game so we thought for February why not do a few more beers? So we are calling the theme for Thirsty Thursday for the month Feb-BREW-uary. And what better place to start than the microbrew capital of America than Colorado?
Of course one of the most famous breweries in the world is based in Golden Colorado which is the home of Coors. Tap the Rockies! No seriously, if you have time the tour of the brewery is a great way to explore the history of a great American brand and also taste samples of the the Banquet beer at its most fresh as well as other beers they brew including Blue Moon! But most people don’t know that there are tons of amazing options all over the state. Thrillist has a top 10 list that we love if you want to get a sampling but our CEO who is a Colorado native picked out her top three choices
- Left Hand Brewery: Based on Longmont just a town over from Boulder Left Hand launched with a homebrew kit and grew from there. Their most popular beer is the Milk Stout Nitro and now you can get it in a bottle ( fans can take home with them… in 26 different states now!)
- Mountain Sun: Want a full delicious meal with your microbrews served up by staff that pool everything (which makes for awesome service? Go to one of the pub’s locations in Denver and Boulder. The ales like Colorado Kind and XXX Pale Ale are favorites as is the Java Porter. We recommend doing the taster before making a final choice. The staff is super knowledgeable too so you will get a lesson in brewing while you are at it.
- Oskar Blues: Want a side of great music with your beer? This is your place. They are a can joint and now you are seeing their popular picks like Dale’s Pale Ale and Old Chubb show up all over America. Hooray distribution deals. Go on their jam band night though if you visit in person. You can listen to great local musicians, bring your own guitar or other instrument or just sing along. It is a ton of fun!
