Thirsty Thursday Dry January: Italian Cream Soda

Italian-Cream-Soda2For January we are focused on mocktails for “Dryanuary”  or Dry January in which many of us turn to a more wellness minded place of less or no alcohol consumption. We’ve suggested some delicious and healthy sips without a lot of sugar or creams but we thought just because you are skipping the booze doesn’t mean you don’t want a treat right? So we thought why not try an old fashioned Italian Cream Soda. We remember them so fondly as kids mixing different Torani Syrups as a treat (and they really have so many options like Peach, Cherry and Raspberry) and tend to forget that these Italian syrups are meant for more than just a great vanilla latté.  The typical recipe combines club soda, a Torani Syrup, a splash of half & half (hence the cream) and if you are feeling really decadent some whipped cream. We loved this recipe from Butter with A Side of Bread.  Who is hysterical and worth adding to your list of food bloggers.

  • ½ cup Club Soda
  • 3 TBSP Torani Syrup {our favorite combo was Raspberry Vanilla- 2 TBSP Raspberry to 1 TBSP Vanilla}
  • 1 TBSP Half & Half
  • 3 ice cubes
  • whipped cream and a cherry for the top!
  1. Add ice cubes to glasses. Measure out about ½ cup Club Soda and pour into each glass.
  2. Measure out 3 TBSP Torani syrup.
  3. Add the syrup to the soda. Just before serving add the 1 TBSP of Half & Half to the soda/syrup mixture.  Try and not shake the glasses around too much so that the design is preserved- serve with whipped cream and a cherry on top,
  4. ENJOY!
