Stowaway’s team is based in New York so we have some chilly winters to cope with as we are often visited by snow, sleet and blustery weather. So for the winter we thought let’s go south (be geese!) and dub our Travel Tuesday theme “Winter in The South” to help us enjoy some escapism and help you pick a weekend getaway. This week’s destination? Nashville!
Why? Well the Music City is on everyone’s hot list for 2017. No seriously everyone from Travel and Leisure to Afar is adding it to their list of must have cities to explore this year. Why? Well all of the major music institutions seem to be celebrating anniversaries all at once. The iconic Ryman Auditorium celebrates its 125th anniversary with a full calendar of fêtes, while the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum celebrates 50 years and the Bluebird Café turns 35. So if you want to listen to both kinds of music (that’s a Blues Brothers joke for country AND western) then this year is the perfect time. Plus there are great boutique hotels and as Travel and Leisure mentions the city is brimming with new and upcoming eateries: Maneet Chauhan’s The Mockingbird, John Besh’s Marsh House, and Henrietta Red from Per Se–trained chef Julia Sullivan.
