#NotRoutine: Paula Froelich

paula-froelich-headshot“You don’t know Paula Froelich? No wait seriously?” This is probably a response you will get if you happen to be in for cocktail party banter in New York City. We know, we know, it’s not the center of the universe but hear us out as to why everyone knows Paula Why? Because she is possibly the best known and one of the most loved journalists and authors in media.  is an American journalist. She wrote the hilarious & New York Times Best Selling Mercury in Retrograde, is a former deputy editor for the New York Post’s famed Page Six,  was the Editor in Chief of Yahoo Travel and writes & produces A Broad Abroad and just generally gets it.  Because her life is intense we thought she was a perfect candidate for our #NotRoutine series that gets into the day to day life of interesting women.

Hardest part of your day?

It depends.. sometimes it’s just waking up – if I’m in the middle of a great dream. But I’m actually a morning person so it’s not too bad. I’d say it definitely used to be around 3 pm – when I was working at a desk and always wanted to be somewhere else… and 3 pm for some reason was especially hard. I was ready to go but had 3 more hours. It’s that feeling you get on a flight when you’re just DONE… but there’s still a few hours left. Unbearable.

Best part of your day?

If I’m at home: cuddling with my dog Karl in the mornings. definitely. And then meditating.

The one item you without which your day is in shambles (or at least more challenging)

My iphone. I’m addicted.

What is the most consistent part of your daily routine?

Coffee: Must. Have. Coffee.

What is the least consistent part of your daily routine?

I do my makeup with a couple products first thing in the morning

I touch up as needed throughout the day

I swipe right…I mean just a little lipstick & mascara (X)

Naturally  I Cook Something Simple & Wholesome Every Night (X)- i cook a lot – my rule is every thing has to be prepped in under 15 minutes and not use too many dishes, but if I’m only in town for a few days, I do local soho restaurants.
